Depression Therapy

Helping women break free from depression and re-engage with life.

Let's sprinkle a little hope and happiness into your days, starting now.

You push yourself to get through the day and you do it so well that other people may not even know you’re depressed. Then, you come home and do nothing because nothing is all you have energy for. You end up feeling bad for not getting anything done. And, eventually, you go to bed, wake up, and do it all over again the next day.

There are things you want to do and you are wondering why it’s so hard to get yourself to do them. You have zero motivation. You notice a finite amount of energy and you use all that energy up on your responsibilities (work, school, family, etc.) to the point that nothing remains for you. It feels as if you are going through the motions some days. Or, maybe most days.

Depression may be clouding your view, but there is hope. Let me help you find it.

How depression therapy can help

How do we improve depression? I specialize in working with millennial and Gen Z women with high-functioning depression.

High-functioning depression is not an actual diagnosis but more of an observation. You appear to be functioning and meeting all of your responsibilities to the outside world. Yet, you are feeling miserable on the inside.

In depression therapy, we work together to create an individualized plan to re-engage in enjoyable activities and identify what truly brings value to your life. We will also plan concrete steps to take when experiencing low motivation and/or low energy for some quick relief.

While you may appear to function day-to-day, depression symptoms certainly take their toll. It is an isolating feeling when others cannot see how much you are struggling and how much it takes to push yourself each day. To them it seems you are fine. Outwardly, you are your usual self. We both know things have been tough. So, let’s work together to overcome this.

Living within your values

Not living out your true values is a fast track to a depressed life. I’m not talking about the values you wish you had, think you have, or want to have. I’m talking about identifying and then taking action on the values you actually have.

Behavioral Activation treatment for depression

Behavioral Activation is a proven depression treatment providing relief for depression symptoms by focusing on behavior changes. It is incredibly individualized to your symptoms and your needs. We create a plan tailored to you.

Maladaptive behavior patterns

We identify behavior patterns that keep you trapped in the cycle of depression. We then pinpoint the need the behaviors are attempting to meet and develop tweaks you can make to these behaviors to steer you towards wellness. Small tweaks over time lead to big changes. When you are depressed, starting small is where it’s at.

Low energy & low motivation

One of the most difficult symptoms of depression is feeling as though you cannot or do not want to do anything although you may be desperate to feel better. Through depression counseling, we will find what works for you. We break down your objectives into the tiniest pieces so that even on your most low energy days, there is something concrete you can do towards wellness.

Symptoms of Depression

No two people experience depression exactly the same. In depression therapy, we will take the time to explore how depression exists for you. Here are just some of the common symptoms of depression.

  • Depressed mood - You notice your mood is low more days than not. You’ve tried to improve your mood, but nothing has helped.

  • Loss of interest/pleasure in activities - You don’t feel like doing the things you used to love to do. They aren’t bringing you joy like they used to.

  • Decreased appetite - You haven’t been hungry. Maybe you skip meals without even noticing or force yourself to eat since it’s expected.

  • Low energy - You physically notice having less energy. There might be a day where you work up the motivation to do something but your energy level isn’t there.

  • Loss of concentration - It’s hard to stay focused and it can even be difficult to make decisions.

  • Worthlessness, hopelessness, and guilt - You’re experiencing negative thoughts about yourself and you’re starting to believe them.
